Our Spinal Treatments

Our spine specialists offer various back surgery options to help you feel your best. We provide the following treatments:

Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion

This procedure is performed on patients experiencing back or neck pain, stiffness, or difficulty moving due to damaged discs located in the neck. During this procedure, the surgeon removes the damaged discs in the neck and replaces them with either artificial discs or bone tissue from other areas of the body. Once the discs are replaced, a titanium plate will be screwed to the bones to provide stability

Lumbar Spinal Fusion

This surgery benefits patients who have lumbar degenerative disc disease, lumbar spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, spinal stenosis, tumors, or spine infections. During this procedure, the surgeon will either access the anterior or posterior of the torso, then remove any joints that are located between damaged discs. Once removed, screws, rods, or bone tissue will be inserted to connect and stabilize the damaged discs.

Microdiscectomy

This procedure is performed on patients suffering from herniated lumbar discs. During this surgery, the neurosurgeon will make an incision above the herniated disc. The disc will then be removed and the patient will be sutured. Patients undergoing this procedure generally do not require overnight observation.

Posterior Cervical Fusion

This procedure is used to mend two or more cervical bones to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots. It helps patients suffering from chronic neck pain. During this surgery, the soft tissues and muscles in the neck are separated and the bones that lay over the spinal cord are removed. Then, the remaining bones surrounding the cord are attached to one another using small screws and a titanium rod. Artificial bone is then placed to help promote fusion of the vertebrae.

Recovering From Spine Surgery

In most cases, patients recovering from spinal surgery often require between one to three days of in-hospital monitoring followed by two weeks of minimal exertion. Your surgeon may also prescribe up to six weeks of physical rehabilitation. Depending on the procedure, full recovery ranges from two to six months. This timeframe is influenced by various factors, including the specific procedure performed, your general health, and your adherence to post-operative care and rehabilitation protocols. It is crucial for patients to closely follow their surgeon’s guidance and attend all follow-up appointments to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.
